SEND Department
The SEND department has a dedicated room on the ground floor which is equiped with 6 computer, an interactive white board and a colour printer.
SEND students are invited to the room for break and dinner time to work through homework, read, do art activities, play LEGO or play board games. Students have the opportunity to go outside with Teaching Assistant support, and there is always a teaching assistant available in the dining room if students wish to eat lunch in their company. During form time TA's support students through a variety of interventions on a rota system. During the rest of the day support is provided in lessons to students on the SEND register by Teaching Assistants who will meet students at their lesson, giving them the independence of moving through school with their peers. Some lessons are taken in the SEN room; which comprises of 1-to-1 or small group work delivered by the SENDCO or Level 3 Teaching assistants.
SEN staff also have access to a dedicated small group intervention room.
Homework club takes place every Monday and Wednesday after school in the SEN room for any student who needs support, or would rather complete their homework at school before going home.
