For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me.
Matthew 25: 35-36
Overview
The central skills that link the material areas are creativity and imagination. By combining these skills with knowledge and application of practical designing and making techniques, we aim to give students the opportunity to be resourceful, think critically, take risks when planning and developing and ideas, and to reflect on how their ideas can be improved and develop further to have an impact on modern design.
Curriculum Intent
‘Creativity is intelligence having fun’ – Albert Einstein
Design Technology provides every student with the opportunity to apply technical knowledge and intelligent thinking to creativity. Students enjoy making, surprise themselves with their talents and are proud of the products they design and make.
We also want to promote to young people the power and positive impact a designer can have in the modern world and that by using application of knowledge alongside innovative ideas they can be someone who designs the new products that revolutionise our lives.
