SEND Department
The SEND department comprises of several rooms - The Nook, The Haven and The sanctuary. The Nook is used as a classroom base for intervention group lessons, as well as for social time support. It is resourced with 4 computers and an interactive whiteboard, and has a small sensory room for students to use. The Nook also has an outside space with outdoor gym equipment for sensory snacks, and game tables to encourage socialisation. SEND students are welcome to use this safe space at social times to read, play games and take part in craft activities.
The Haven is a larger intervention space for group sessions and comprises of 4 computers and an interactive whiteboard. The Sanctuary is a small space used for 1:1 interventions and outside agency use.
During form time TA's support students through a variety of interventions on a rota system. During the rest of the day support is provided in lessons to students who need additional support from Teaching Assistants who will meet students at their lesson, giving them the independence of moving through school with their peers.
Homework club takes place before school every day from 8.00 - 8.30, and after school Mon - Thurs from 3.00 - 3.30 in The Nook.
Parents can contact the SEND department via email at SEND@hfch.co.uk
